While I prefer not to brake them, but in the odd instance you do this should help.

Never broke one, and hope I never do. And I will admit it, I am a thread whore.

replaced one, but didn't break it..

had a 99 s-10 in the bay (quite a while back) and after getting everything back together, did the checkout.. uh-oh.. turn signal made both sides blink.. figured great, i finally broke one. called around and luckily a local dealership had the switch in stock. code 12 cashout for $30 and 20 minutes later, the truck was rockin with the new switch and all was right with the world again..

when the customer picked it up, i explained what happened and told them that i had already replaced the broken parts.. then the customer says

"wow.. thanks for replacing that for me.. every once in a while she does that to me too, and i just smack the steering column a couple times til it fixes it.."

talk about one of your classic D'OH moments.. that's what i get for fixing the problem before calling the customer..

^ Ha I remember when the stealerships would change the ENTRIE turn signal assembly to the tune of ~$250. Then the tech briefing came out that you could replace the switch itself for $10.

Oh the switches are cake to replace too, so if you break one replace it yourself cost will vary $10~$30 beats a damage claim any day.
